Dia de los Muertos - Dyed to Order

November 1st is an important day of remembrance in many cultures around the world. Dia de los Muertos honors the dead with festivals and lively celebrations of the lives of the deceased with food, drink, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed in life. The festival goers recognize death as a natural part of the human experience; a continuum with birth, childhood, and growing up into a member of a community. On Dia de los Muertos, the dead are also included as a part of those communities, awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with their loved ones. The imagery of the Calaveras, or Sugar Skull, is beautiful, the colors in the celebrations are vibrant and lively, and the message is heartwarming - we honor our dead with love, humor, happiness, food, laughter and cheer. This colorway seeks to evoke that same message through its bright vibrant colors. Each color in this colorway has been matched to the sugar skull design featured on the fabric used to make the project bags available in the shop. Bright jewel tones of the colors of the spectrum are included, with areas of white to represent the image of the sugar skull.

Note: Keep in mind the random nature of the dye and color placement for this colorway when ordering in larger quantities. Dyelots will vary. As with all multicolored, hand-dyed yarns, it is best to alternate skeins in larger projects.
