November 1st is an important day of remembrance in many cultures around the world. Dia de los Muertos honors the dead with festivals and lively celebrations of the lives of the deceased, complete with with food, drink, parties, offerings and enjoying the activities the dead enjoyed during their lives. The most common image associated with the celebration is the Calavera, or Mexican Sugar Skull. Sugar skulls are decorated with an incredible array of colors, and can be purchased or hand made at home. They are used as an Ofrenda, or offering to loved ones lost but honored during the celebration. Each set of stitch markers includes a hand painted, wooden sugar skull bead and four, double sided, silver toned metallic sugar skull charms. The wooden sugar skull beads were hand painted in Peru. Each marker is adorned with Swarovski crystals in white and jewel tones. Each marker measures between 1" - 1.25" long. This set is a gorgeous addition to your Dia de los Muertos yarn and project bag!
