November 1st is an important day of remembrance in many cultures around the world. Dia de los Muertos honors the dead with festivals and lively celebrations of the lives of the deceased, complete with with food, drink, parties, offerings and enjoying the activities the dead enjoyed during their lives. One of the images associated with the celebration is the Calaca, meaning skull or skeleton. These figures are decorated with an incredible array of colors, and are often shown as joyous beings, surrounded by flowers and musical instruments. The cultures that celebrate Dia de los Muertos strongly believe that no dead soul likes to be thought of sadly and in turn, death should be a joyous occasion! Each set of stitch markers includes two hand painted, wooden sugar skull beads and one hand painted, wooden coffin bead. These beads were hand painted in Peru. Finishing out the set are two double sided, silver toned metallic sugar skull charms. Each marker is adorned with Swarovski crystals in white and jewel tones. Each marker measures between 1" - 1.25" long. This set is a gorgeous addition to your Dia de los Muertos yarn and project bag! Only 4 sets are available.
